Pastor Julie Boleyn became a Lutheran in high school, when a friend invited her to join the youth choir. It was an experience of coming home, feeling both nurtured and challenged. She was a member of the long-term staff at Holden Village in 1998-1999. She graduated from The Evergreen State College in 2002. During her time in college she served as an intern at The Leaven Center, a retreat center that sought to nurture the relationship between spirituality and social justice. Pastor Boleyn attended seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and graduated in 2010.

Pastor Boleyn is passionate about community, exploring the gifts intercultural engagement, and vibrant sustainability. She also loves a good laugh, a strong cup of coffee, and the opportunity to listen for how God is at work in surprising ways.

Pastor Boleyn lives with her partner and daughter in Berwyn. She has been serving Unity since October of 2011.

Hello Unity Lutheran Community! This is Maggie Dahlberg and I am your new Co-Music
Director. Pastor Julie asked me to write a little bit about myself as an introduction so - here we go. I am a classically trained pianist who has a BA from Grinnell College where I studied both piano and trumpet; and a Masters in Piano Performance from Northwestern University. I started playing organ 12 years ago in the small town of Port Townsend, Washington (at Grace Lutheran). I continued to serve Lutheran churches when I moved to the Chicago area 8 years ago. I was the music director at both Northlake Lutheran (in Northlake) and Grace Lutheran (in Villa Park).  I have a diverse musical background which Iʼm looking forward to bringing to Unity. Besides piano and organ, I also play upright bass in a few local bands, started studying drums, and on occasion, dust off my trumpet and blow a few notes for random gigs.  I believe music is one of the best gifts we get from God and enjoy encouraging all people to experience that gift in what ever way they can. Canʼt wait to meet all of you!

Mrs. Krista Lane
Krista Lane is one of the two Ministers of Music at Unity Lutheran. In addition to playing organ and piano for worship she directs the Sanctuary Choir and the Joyful Noise Choir. She teaches music for grades 1-5 in North Berwyn School District and recently recieved her Masters in Music Education degree from Boston University. Krista and her husband Wes have 3 children at home, Anita, Jacob, and Erika.
Mrs. Norma A. Gomez

Norma A. Gomez graduated with a Secretarial Associated degree in Applied Science from Northwestern Business College and has been working as a church secretary for 16 years. She worked 11 years for the former Presbyterian Church of Berwyn prior to coming to First Lutheran, now Unity Lutheran Church, in 2006.  Being a mother of 3 wonderful children she feels blessed for these jobs and the flexibility of the working schedules as they gave her the opportunity to enjoy her children from day one.

Meet our church council and read what they love about Unity Lutheran:

Joann, Secretary

Erin, Treasurer

"After years of believing there wasn't a church out there I could call home, I finally found one. Pastor Julie and the members of the congregation welcomed me from day one. I finally feel like I have found a church that celebrates each member for their diversity and uniqueness, while supporting and guiding one another in faith."

Peter, Outreach

Sarah Mae, Youth Chair

"I'm a lifelong member of Unity Lutheran Church.  The community of Unity makes it such a warm and welcoming place to be."

Jen, Inreach

Kristina, Worship

"My family has been attending Unity and its predecessor church for generations.  I'm proud to be a fourth generation member, especially of a church that is accepting of all people.  I also love the different songs we sing in choir and the way we all make each other laugh."
